Why User Experience?
Understanding who your users are and knowing their experience in using your services or products is the key to developing meaningful content and designing a successful website.
I have taken some courses on User Experience. My knowledge of UX has helped me plan websites, write content, and create pages.
As part of my quest to find the latest web technologies and their applications, I recently read the following insightful articles on User Experience (UX).
1. UX Principles For Creating Websites
Brodey Sheppard wrote and published a comprehensive article, ‘UX PrinciplesFor Creating Websites‘ on creating a UX-focused website. Although it’s rather technical, scanning this article leads you to the part of creating the website you want to focus on. If you plan to have a website for your business, community, or non-profit, this article gives you a good understanding of how to plan for your website.
2. What is User Experience (UX) Design?
‘What is User Experience (UX) Design?‘ is an article that covers the broad topic of UX design in general. It is helpful to learn the fundamental concept of what User Experience is, and what UX designers do.
I like their definition of UX design:
“UX design involves the design of the entire process of acquiring and integrating the product, including aspects of branding, design, usability, and function.”
Interaction Design Foundation – IxDF. (2016, June 1). What is User Experience (UX) Design?. Interaction Design Foundation – IxDF. https://www.interaction-design.org/literature/topics/ux-design
This site also offers an excellent article ‘What is UX Design? Differences Between UX and UI Design‘ for learning UX design as the entire process or journey a user experiences when interacting with a product or service and how the UI design relates to it.
One way to think of UX design is to consider the entire process or journey a user experiences when interacting with a product or service. How is the user introduced to the service or product — through advertising, blogs, or something else? What kind of interaction does the user have with the brand? How does the user feel after the interaction? All of these questions and more are key considerations within UX design.
